Terms of use & disclaimers

Please read before relying on anything on this site.

Giving Machine Vetting is an independent research tool. These terms explain what it is, what it isn't, and what we expect of anyone who uses or relies on its output. Last updated 2026.

1. Not an official site of the Church

Giving Machine Vetting is an independent research tool. It is not an official website of, nor is it affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Light the World campaign, the LDS Foundation, or any of their affiliated entities (collectively, "the Church").

References to the Light the World Giving Machine, the Church, its programs, or its publications are used solely for descriptive purposes to identify the context in which this tool was built. The Church has not reviewed, approved, or endorsed the content, scoring, or verdicts produced by this tool. Nothing on this site should be interpreted as a statement, opinion, or endorsement of the Church.

2. Informational and research purposes only

All qualification scores, vetting verdicts, executive summaries, and supporting research published on this site are provided for informational and research purposes only. They are not legal advice, financial advice, tax advice, investment advice, or professional recommendations of any kind, and they should not be relied upon as a substitute for the independent judgment of qualified professionals.

Users are solely responsible for independently verifying any information before making any decision, including but not limited to decisions about charitable giving, grant recipients, organizational partnerships, due diligence, fiduciary review, or public communications.

3. Sources, accuracy, and AI-generated content

Verdicts and supporting research are generated by automated AI agents drawing from publicly available third-party data sources, including but not limited to: IRS Publication 78, the IRS Business Master File, the ProPublica Nonprofit Explorer, the GivingTuesday 990 Data Collective, Charity Navigator, the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance, Candid / GuideStar, the Federal Election Commission, CourtListener, the U.S. Senate Lobbying Disclosure database, and the public websites of the organizations being researched.

The information may be incomplete, outdated, misattributed, or contain errors, including errors introduced by the AI models themselves or by the upstream data sources. Source data is often delayed by months or years, and organizations change. AI agents can misinterpret or fabricate. You must independently verify any specific claim before relying on it.

Every published verdict cites its sources by URL. We encourage you to follow those citations and verify them directly. Where information is missing or unverifiable, the tool flags it as such. Reviewers may override any verdict; overrides are logged with timestamp and reviewer identity.

4. No warranty

The information on this site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, completeness, currency, reliability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site or its content will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

5. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the operators of Giving Machine Vetting shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your access to, use of, or inability to use the site or its information, or from any decision you make in reliance on the site or its information.

This limitation applies regardless of the form of action, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability, or any other legal theory, and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

6. Third-party content and trademarks

All organizational names, logos, registered marks, and other intellectual property displayed on this site are the property of their respective owners. Reference to a name or mark does not imply endorsement of, by, or affiliation with the owner. "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints," "Light the World," "Giving Machine," and related names and marks are the property of the Church or its affiliates.

Excerpts of third-party data are reproduced for research and commentary under principles of fair use. Source citations are provided for every excerpted item; please follow them to the original publisher.

7. Privacy

Authentication requires an email address on a pre-approved whitelist. Sign-in events, candidate-trigger actions, verdict generation, and overrides are logged with timestamp and the acting user's email address for audit purposes. We do not sell, trade, or share user data with third parties. Source data fetched from third-party APIs is cached for performance; cached content is replaced or removed on subsequent fetches.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms at any time. Material changes will be noted with a revised "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a revision constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

9. Contact

Questions, corrections, takedown requests, or concerns about specific reports may be directed to jtboswell@strahes.com.
